Just found out via [livejournal.com profile] khab_rmb that New Jersey's Senate killed the same-sex marriage bill yesterday. Activists are taking it to court. (My excuse for missing it is that I've been a bit headachy and out of it this week, but I am still very patchy on news.)

I wasn't optimistic that it would happen (mostly because I figured it would be delayed until after inauguration, at which point Chris Christie would veto the bill) but, well, damn. Maybe it's not an inevitable change, after all...?

Actually reading the news has taken second priority to reading an American feminist's blog lately, because I saw this and was shocked into horrified fascination...and got hooked after about six back entries. I like her style (bits of facetiousness and biting sarcasm mixed in with intelligent analysis), and it's given me much food for thought. (No Whoppers, though...groan.) Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] lowellboyslash, for the first link.
