Yes, I have a midterm in topology to do on Thursday and Friday. But I just spent an hour and a half tutoring a girl in Math 23a. She started out not understanding (except algebraically) what an isomorphism was, or the point of a basis, or how you could transform between spaces of different dimensions (she's into art, so I had her draw a picture of something on the table, and explained how she'd made a transformation from R^3 to R^2, and I can't /believe/ nobody did that for me!!) and now has an intuitive definition of linear transformations that covers all the basics of vector spaces and didn't even rely on finite-dimensionality, and should enable her to solve her entire pset! And she actually seems to like what's going on, enough to express curiosity about infinite-dimensional spaces and let me ramble about the Axiom of Choice! This is so fulfilling!!!
I have to meet with Kathy tonight too...I have two tutees...hmm, wonder what will happen to my own homework...
