I just saw
tiamat360!!! How on earth is she using her American cell phone here??? She has Internet, too, for free in her hotel tonight, which is cool, so I expect a post *poke*. She's going to be driving around looking at rocks with 8 others (of whom one is Chinese, the rest speak no Chinese as far as I know and are all white) for ten days, and she's going to have an awesome time!! I also saw Dan, whom I don't know particularly well but whom I quite like; and the guy next to me whose name I have ALREADY forgotten. as I only got the names twice, kept asking me questions about Beijing, which was fun. Which reminds me: Beijing's population 到底是什么?Anyway, I was probably slightly obnoxious, but I don't think they minded too much because I was a second person who could speak Chinese for them. I've been thinking of 菊花茶 (for anyone who's curious, the common top of all those is to represent 草 which means grass/plants) as "tangerine flower tea" because that's what it sounds like, but now that I look it up it is, in fact, chrysanthemum tea. And to think I've been drinking it so much here, as it's so good!! Eep. Oh yeah, and we had 火锅 (that actually means "fire pot," literally), which was only the third time I'd had it here (rrgh, it makes me miss
silkspinner and want to see her roommates), so that was quite good.
So I just refused to go to 天安门 with them (well, I wasn't exactly invited, but I think
tiamat360 would've been happy if I had come) for the very good reason that I ought to sleep or study, so I should do that now. (I'm on a strange sleep schedule, because I don't want jetlag to be /too/ 厉害。)So, yeah. But I'm excited. :)
