faculty dinner?

So, I have a good relationship with my thesis adviser, and should ask her to dinner (in my house or elsewhere, or even show up with silkspinner at /her/ faculty dinner if she invites a professor and me) sometime. But the Cabot faculty dinner is coming up, and I'd like to ask my Arabic teacher (in fact I could ask any of my four teachers, so am being a bit indecisive about this, but) instead. Do you think that's okay? Is it sort of more the thing to invite one's thesis adviser to a faculty dinner, assuming existence of advice?
